| Intern 2006-2007 Vicar Eliza Daniel |
| St. James Lutheran Church We are proud to announce our new Intern Eliza Daniel. She will be sharing responsibilities between St. James and Immanuel Lutheran Church . Vicar Eliza began serving our congregations in late August. Her last Sunday with us will be August 5,2007. Dear Friends in Christ, My name is Eliza Daniel and I am glad to be coming to Jackson to be your next Vicar for the 2006-20007 School Year. I am the daughter of a carpenter and an office manager. I am the wife of a former Army Sergeant. I consider myself a wandering Hoosier, born and raised in Gary, Indiana. I have lived in southern Arizona and, before coming to Chicago to continue my seminary studies; I lived in southwestern Washington State. I am a second career seminary student. My first career was working for the Boeing Company for 20 years. I finished my bachelor degree in 1999 at Seattle Pacific University. Then I started seminary in the fall of 2000. My husband Robert is self employed and is a Certified Nursing Assistant. My husband Robert and I have been married for 16 years and we have a 14 year old son, John. John will be attending Jackson High School. I have two adult daughters, Sara and Jennifer, who are my children from a previous marriage. I took my first quilting class the same year I started seminary and I have been in love with it ever since...that is, I love quilting (as it is a spiritual experience to me) and my seminary studies. My husband and I have been actors in musical productions together, including The Revels and Everything I Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. I enjoy nature and gardening with my husband. We grew a great batch of collard greens and volunteer green beans two summers ago. They keep coming back every year! I love to walk and I enjoy swimming. One of my best friends here at seminary is Gretta Buthelezi. She is the wife of PhD student Pemba Buthelezi, who came to Chicago four years ago from South Africa. My friends have invited me to visit and someday I hope to travel to Africa. I hear from Zac Sturm that some folks in Jackson like to play golf. Well, I'm always willing to learn new things! Again, I am glad to be assigned to your Church. Sincerely, Eliza Daniel |
